About Mariangela

Science meets softness

I'm Mariangela Komninou, founder of Baby Sleep Diary, a mother, and someone who has lived the long nights as much as I've studied them.

My background is in biomedical science, a PhD spent learning how to ask careful questions and weigh evidence. When I became a parent, I poured that same rigour into something far more personal: understanding why my own baby wouldn't sleep, and how to help her.

That curiosity became a calling. Today I work with families who are exhausted, second-guessing themselves, and drowning in conflicting advice. My job is to cut through the noise, gently and on your terms.

My goal: bring clarity, calm, and confidence to a process that can feel overwhelming.

The credentials behind the calm

I'm certified through the International Institute of Infant Sleep, a programme grounded in current paediatric sleep science. Combined with my PhD in biomedical sciences, this gives me the tools to address a range of sleep concerns: from establishing healthy newborn rhythms to managing regressions, night wakings, and gentle weaning of sleep associations.

The approach

Four pillars that guide everything

01

Evidence-informed

rooted in research

Every recommendation is grounded in current sleep science, not trends, not rigid programs, not folklore.

02

Tailored to your family

no one-size-fits-all

Your baby, your values, your routine. Plans are built around your family's specific patterns and goals.

03

Gentle & realistic

kindness, always

Lasting change comes from sustainable strategies, never from approaches that feel wrong for you.

04

Understanding first

the why before the how

When you understand your baby's sleep, you can make confident decisions long after our work together ends.

Mariangela's approach was a complete shift from what I'd read online. She actually listened, looked at our situation, and built something that worked for us. Within ten days our daughter was sleeping through.

Common questions

Things parents ask

A trained professional who supports families through sleep challenges using evidence-informed methods. I'm certified through the International Institute of Infant Sleep, a program grounded in current pediatric sleep science.

No. My approach is gentle and gradual. We work with your family's values and your baby's temperament, not against them. There are many evidence-based options that don't involve leaving a baby to cry alone.

It varies, but most families notice meaningful change within the first 7–14 days of consistent implementation. Sustainable change always takes a little longer than quick fixes.

There's nothing to pay upfront. We start with a free discovery call, and only if it feels like the right fit do I send you a secure payment link for your chosen plan. Payments are handled by Stripe, so you can pay by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, and your details are never stored by me.

Yes. Most of my work is virtual, via video calls and messaging. I work with families across Switzerland and internationally, in English and Greek.

No. I'm a certified infant sleep consultant, not a medical doctor, and my support does not replace medical care. I work only with healthy babies and I do not diagnose or treat any condition. Your paediatrician always comes first: please raise any medical concern with them, and seek their clearance before starting any sleep support. If anything falls outside healthy sleep, I'll refer you back to them.

From newborns through toddlers (around age 3). Each age has different developmental considerations, so the approach adapts as your child grows.
